SAP Solution Manager is a centralized application maintenance and lifecycle management solution used to implement, support, operate, and monitor SAP enterprise applications. SAP Solution Manager provides integrated content, tools, methodologies, and access to SAP systems.
SAP Application Maintenance Services (AMS) are provided by various vendors to SAP customers that need to outsource some or all of their SAP enterprise application maintenance. AMS range from on-demand SAP support through full application outsourcing and managed cloud, including application enhancements and optimization.
SAP explains that SAP application maintenance can be used to define the sequence of the calls sent by the SAP system to the specified partner application in order to handle a particular function. The storage system supplier typically performs this activity.
For SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure, SAP recommends users develop an application maintenance strategy for multiple releases of an application. After the quality assurance team has run acceptance tests, users should set up a maintenance track for the first release of the application. This means that users can start developing the next release in the development track.

This will be followed by optional extended maintenance available until the end of 2030.
