What are the benefits of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud?

Better accountability: “With SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, the vendor of the software is entirely accountable and responsible for the performance and the outcome, and that is a tremendous benefit for the customer,” says Sanjay Kulkarni, Senior Vice President, RISE with SAP (formerly Global Head, SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud Architecture & Advisory).

Reduced cost: SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud cuts costs associated with maintaining an in-house Basis team, in-house infrastructure, and IT teams, Kulkarni explains. IDC estimated that SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud resulted in a 28% lower cost of operations for Canadian General-Tower over five years compared with the cost of an on-premise deployment of SAP HANA.

Better performance: SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud customers can leverage an in-memory platform without changing the application code line. In addition, redundancies are removed, data structure is improved, and there is a tighter integration of the application and underlying platform, relates Kulkarni.

Reduced risk: The solution lowers the risks associated with complex migrations and re-platforming because SAP has the expertise to avoid typical pitfalls. “Depending on the customer’s industry, types of add-ons, and data volume, SAP knows how to optimize each customer’s environment. SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is the fast lane or accelerator to get you to SAP S/4HANA,” he says.

Improved security and compliance: SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is compliant with data security and privacy regulations across the globe. “SAP is compliant in terms of the standard sets of checks and balances that we continue investing in, whether they are Sarbanes-Oxley audits or requirements in specific industries, such as healthcare,” Kulkarni says.

Greater flexibility and scalability: SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud provides customers with the ability to change their capacity requirements by scaling up and down. “This level of flexibility and unpredictability is becoming more and more the norm. It becomes harder and harder for customers to plan to the last detail, and SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud lends itself to this business need,” he notes.
