SAP recently unveiled the latest version of its SAP Business Suite, promising to reduce the need for large upgrade projects in favor of modular, business process-focused enhancements.
SAP Business Suite 7 includes SAP ERP, SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM), SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM), SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM), and SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM), plus industry-specific applications and selected analytic capabilities from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.
The latest version of the SAP Business Suite promises more than 150 functional innovations delivered via enhancement packages with a synchronized release schedule for all included applications. The enhancement packages allow companies to select the functionality they need and deploy it across multiple applications without upgrading.
The new version also includes industry-focused value scenarios to help businesses deploy end-to-end business processes throughout their system landscape. For example, SAP offers an “integrated product development” value scenario for the discrete manufacturing industry. Other value scenarios include “collaborative demand and supply planning” for high tech and consumer products companies and “inspired shopping experience” for retail companies.
SAP says the ability to pick and choose functionality based on specific business needs is a boon to companies unwilling to invest in big projects during a time of economic uncertainty.
“With the new SAP Business Suite, customers are empowered to quickly embrace change and deploy only the solutions that matter most to their business,” said Jim Hagemann Snabe, member of the Executive Board of SAP AG. “With industry-rich, end-to-end processes and embedded analytics available in one natively integrated suite, SAP has created a new industry standard that demonstrates our commitment to make software better, faster, more cost-effective and more user-friendly for our customers.”
