Where in SAP R/3 Release 4.6C configuration can you set requirements for a position? I would like to say that a manager position has certain requirements attached to it. Where can I set this up?
You can assign requirements to a position using qualifications. You can assign qualifications to a person or to a position. For example, if you wish to record qualifications for employee John Smith, you could go to transaction code PPPM, select the employee (by name or structural search), and then select the create icon (small white box) at the bottom of the screen. Then, select the qualifications you wish to record, followed by the enter icon (green check mark) or the Enter key on your keyboard. The screen displays each of the qualifications you entered, giving you an opportunity to input rating scores or values for each.
For example, if you wish to store that an associate has a project management certification license, you could navigate to the Maintain Master Data screen (transaction PA30), select the employee, and then select the qualifications infotype (infotype 0024). Next you can choose the create icon followed by the qualification you wish to record. Enter the value of Yes in the Proficiency column. Lastly, select the save icon on the application toolbar to complete the transaction. You can also do this via the PPPM (change profile) transaction (Figure 1).

If you wish to record qualifications for a particular position (e.g., if the manager position requires that you have a project management certification license), you could enter transaction code PPPM and choose the position (by name or structural search) and then click on the create icon at the bottom of the screen. Select the qualifications you wish to record from the list that appears on the screen by placing a check in the check box next to the qualification name followed by the enter icon. The screen displays each of the qualifications, giving you an opportunity to input rating scores or values for each (Figure 2). After you enter your rating scores, select the save icon.
