The future of work will see a fluid, skills-based workforce and HR departments using AI to enhance their work, according to SAP, with SAP SuccessFactors powering them.
In its Future of Work Trend Report for 2024, SAP found organisations are structuring processes and working around skills, aimed to ensure the right talent, capabilities and competencies are deployed where they are needed the most.
The report added skills transformation is not just about acquiring new capabilities, but also about fostering a growth mindset and embracing a culture of lifelong learning, given how skill changes are already at a rapid pace and will continue to accelerate further.

“Enabling a skill-based workforce is key to sustained talent impact, enabling organizations to target relevant skills across hiring and development actions to strategically manage a future-ready workforce,” the report read.
SAP added that so-called “quiet hiring” practices have been a response to changing skill demands and talent scarcity. These practices involve filling skill gaps through internal talent mobility and alternative approaches to sourcing talent like stretch assignments, alumni networks and gig workers to bring talent in on a skills-need basis.
SAP said SAP SuccessFactors Opportunity Marketplace can assist in building a fluid workforce, helping customers allocate talent based on skill relevance and personal growth ambitions to drive efficiency, innovation and organisational agility.
The report also found human resources (HR) departments are also digitalising and automating large parts of their services and processes, with new intelligent technology like generative AI set to further disrupt the way HR operates.
It added that HR professionals need to be upskilled – whether in the basics of AI or the design and use of low-code or no-code solutions – so they can effectively enable and empower employees on the potential of the technology.
“HR professionals will need to adapt and become well-versed in the capabilities and limitations of AI, as they will proactively advise the business and act as a responsible partner,” the report read.
SAP has introduced business AI use cases in the SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite, including generating job descriptions, interview questions and personalised learning offerings.
To keep SAP SuccessFactors up to date and be able to take advantage of these trends, a well-suited Application Management Services (AMS) along with your SAP SuccessFactors deployment would ensure customers stay on top of the regular semi-annual updates.
AMS provides organisations continuous support after implementation, including proactive monitoring and customisation.
Change management – which involves the authorisation, planning and implementation of any changes to business processes – and user adoption support can help smooth any potential resistance from end users to any new systems or updates implemented.
In addition to maintaining the systems, optimising them based on business needs and leading practices can also help align systems with an organisation’s objectives and industry trends.
HR and payroll specialist Zalaris offers a suite of these support services, using a holistic approach aimed to help users run through complex transactions, provide strategic oversight and more.
Called Zalaris Care for SAP SuccessFactors, the solution provides the services mentioned above while also helping organisations reduce their costs and scale during busy HR periods or while growing.
Zalaris Care brings together technical, operational and strategic support to ensure HR systems like SAP SuccessFactors meet organisational needs while also being well-equipped for the future.
