How Syniti Empowered Phillips 66 Towards ERP Integration

Migrating to SAP S/4HANA can benefit businesses for many reasons, some of which include improving operational efficiency, enhancing the user experience, boosting business agility and positioning the company for innovation and future growth.
However, migrating to SAP S/4HANA doesn’t come without its challenges. They include cost, technical integration, customisation compatibility and testing, and quality assurance. To avoid these pitfalls, organisations can turn to a third-party company that can offer support throughout their migration journey. Syniti, a data management platform provider, provided similar support to diversified energy manufacturing and logistics company Phillips 66 for their SAP S/4HANA implementation journey.
Phillips 66, specialises in refining, transporting and marketing natural gas liquids (NGL) petrochemicals. The company sought to consolidate and upgrade its data landscape following the acquisition of DCP. It also needed to integrate DCP’s twenty-year-old ERP systems and legacy systems into Phillips 66’s existing SAP S/4HANA environment.

The energy manufacturing and logistics company sought an implementation partner to help accelerate their ERP integration and SAP S/4HANA migration efforts and chose Syniti for this purpose.
“Based on our past experience with Syniti, we were confident that they would be able to provide the people and tools needed to deliver an effective ERP data conversion effort empowered by their broad industry experience and their pre-existing familiarity with Phillips 66 systems and processes,” remarked Joseph Burkhalter, DM and MDG lead at Phillips 66.
The implementation underwent two releases with Syniti’s team working closely with Phillips 66 throughout each wave of migration. Utilising the “Load Early, Load Often” theory and leveraging SAP Advanced Data Migration and Management (SAP ADMM) platform by Syniti, the migration process was accelerated with low risk, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Phillips 66 was already running on AWS infrastructure, which proved to be beneficial when it came to de-risking the migration project. As AWS was already in place, it was a suitable environment for onboarding the SAP ADMM solution.
With Syniti’s implementation methodology, Phillips 66 was able to consolidate DCP data from multiple source systems into the new SAP S/4HANA production environment.
In just six months, Syniti helped Phillips 66 achieve an on-time and on-budget go-live leveraging AWS for a streamlined implementation. Utilising the SAP ADMM platform’s reusable Knowledge Graph features, Phillips 66 is now well-prepared for future go-lives, with stable cloud solutions, reliable business rules and data harmonisation enabling significant cost savings.
