As company landscapes increase in size and complexity, users are faced with trying to locate their data among a dizzying array of data stores, and having to launch a variety of transactions and GUIs to access that data. SAP Records Management, a standard component of SAP Web Application Server 6.20 and higher, relieves this burden by providing a single place where users can access all of their enterprise documents, transactions, workflows, and data, regardless of their module or vendor. This article introduces you to the SAP Records Management toolset. It shows you how to set up a simple example customer record, and how to access and manage records. It also discusses some useful enhancements you can make to your implementation, such as adding Web access and workflow integration.
