The Fabulous Fourteen – SAP Announces Best Run Winners in ANZ
In it’s sixth year, SAP announced ANZ’s Best Run Award winners across 14 categories this week.
New this year was the Best Run SAP Artificial Intelligence (Business AI) category that resulted in joint winners – CITIC Mining & DalRae Solutions and Winc.
The CITIC In-Field Assessment Application was developed using the SAP Business Technology Platform’s Mobile Development Kit (MDK) to provide trainers with a tablet application that automatically pre-caches the assessments for the day, including all of the electronic forms that must be completed during the assessment, eliminating paper from the process entirely.

By pre-caching assessments and enabling electronic form completion, the application removes the need for paper forms, reducing the time and resources spent on printing, scanning, filing, and manually recording data. The elimination of paper forms and the associated administrative tasks leads to cost savings in materials and labor. CITIC estimate these savings to be 96,000 pieces of paper, 411,840g of CO2 emissions, $443,600 in costs savings and 20% reduction in end user errors.
According to Lauren Walsh – Superintendent Training at CITIC, “this digital transformation not only streamlines our operations but also reduces the risk of errors associated with manual record-keeping, ultimately leading to a safer and more efficient working environment. Additionally, it facilitates easier access to training data, enabling better decision-making and compliance monitoring, therefore ensuring our workforce remains competent and compliant with industry requirements.”
The Winc First Nations initiative resulted in Mandura, which means ‘trading place’ in the Jaithmathang Nation Language, is a Supply Nation Certified First Nations run and controlled joint venture with Winc. To quickly scale Mandura needed the business technology and supply chain logistics and management infrastructure required to pick, pack and deliver customer orders nationally if it was to be successful in attracting and retaining customers.
This involved creating a standalone sales organisation integrated into the Winc system at a supply chain level to pick, pack and deliver orders. As a result, all Mandura sales, financials and the supply chain integration are powered by SAP. In addition, all the bespoke procurement and settlement rules required by large and sophisticated procurement teams were built into the solution including EDI integration via ARIBA. Winc and Mandura utilised SAP’s Business Technology Platform (BTP) to set up an online quoting system for Mandura field account managers and customers to place their orders to streamline the buying experience.
Coupled with a tight integration with Integrated Business Planning, SAP Warehouse Management and SAP ERP, Mandura has digitised the entire value chain to increase the scale of the business, improve customer satisfaction, while removing inefficiencies.
